Let's Get Real
Finding places where it feels safe to connect with ourselves and each other at a deeply human level, and as men, can be challenging. At the same time, we crave that connection.
When we don't find it, the lack can show up as feelings of isolation, anger, confusion, and displacement. Sometimes we may lean into those feelings. Others we may try to repress them. And still others, we may find ourselves acting out without being sure why.
This group is all about creating a space for us to get real. To be honest with ourselves and each other, cut through the BS, and dig deep so that we can live more fully into our lives with a greater sense of purpose.
What to Expect
Each 'council' consists of four gatherings, spaced over two months. Participants must commit to attending at least three of the sessions.
Each gathering will start with a check in and move into a Council practice. Council is an old-school, simple, and powerful way of bringing people together in a circle to witness, share, and listen with great depth and authenticity.
From there, we'll move into a breathwork practice, reconnecting with the power of breath to bring balance, clarity, and healing.
No experience in Council or Breathwork is necessary. Your experience as a human is more than enough!
We meet twice a month for two hours, 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, at a private Highland Park location. The space is intimate and the group is capped at 6 participants so we have the chance to engage with greater depth.
The exchange for this group is a sliding scale $25 to $40 per session for a total of $100 to $160 and 30% of the proceeds will go to support the work of Mosaic Voices, an organization dedicated to providing mentoring for young men. Once you reserve your spot, you'll receive a Paypal link and the address where we'll be meeting.
**Please note that you must commit to being at AT LEAST three of the scheduled sessions over two months when securing your spot**
I'm a facilitator, coach, and storyteller based in Los Angeles who is passionate about helping people harness the power of their stories to create change. A few years ago, I found myself struggling with what being a 'man' meant. I didn't really have powerful male role models growing up and had always felt uncomfortable in groups of men. I started out by reading Robert Bly, Michael Meade, and other mythologists and thinkers who have spent many years exploring issues of male identity. A few months later, I found myself at a men's retreat in the woods outside of Mendocino. I entered with a high degree of skepticism and left utterly renewed and transformed.
It would be great if that retreat had settled everything. But that's not how it works. Time and time again, I've returned to the core questions of what it means to grow and build community as a man in the modern world. As the world evolves quickly, I find myself hungry for community and. . .not finding it. This group is my way of both being of service and building something that, frankly, I'd like to be a part of.
I've been facilitating for a while, leading breathwork groups for 5 years, and have had the chance to travel all over the world sharing my work with story and breath with folks ranging from international CEOs to inmates in the Central Valley. I'm a certified coach with the International Coach Federation, have completed David Elliot's Healer Training levels I-IV and Dan Brule's Breath Mastery program, and completed Medicine Wheel training with Rites of Passage Vision Quest. I also make a mean pan of brownies.
