'The Universe is made of stories not atoms.' (Muriel Rukeyser)
Our lives are made up of billions of moments. When we tell 'our story,' whether to ourselves or other, we are connecting those moments with a thread of narrative in order to create meaning. No single story can communicate the complexity of your Being. So this course is not about developing Your One Great Story. Rather, it is an invitation to explore the landscape of your life so you can engage with the world with greater clarity, purpose, and depth. Together, we'll use creativity as a vessel to investigate the contours of the events, beliefs, relationships, and encounters that have shaped your experience of the world and, perhaps, reconnect with the thread that has been there all along, quietly weaving its way, undetected, beneath the surface. This exploration is filled with fun, surprises, healing, grief, joy, pain, and connection. Just like life. |
Who Is It For?
This workshop is for anyone who feels pulled to explore their inner landscape in a creative, surprising, and fun way. Perhaps you're working on a memoir, personal narratives for performance, or a story for a specific audience. Maybe you're in a moment of transition and feel that there's a story inside that's been waiting for a chance to express itself. Or perhaps there's just something about this course that intrigues you. This experience is designed to meet you where you are and help you to the next step on your journey as a human, storyteller, and explorer. Along the way, we'll be working to broaden our perspectives, challenge assumptions, and expand our 'map' of our inner worlds. There's no storytelling, performance, or writing experience necessary and this workshop is open to folks from all backgrounds and level of experience. If you're human, fascinated by humans, or terrified at the prospect of exploring your story. . . you're welcome here :) |

TestimonialsMichael’s technical knowledge of storytelling will stick with me – he is well-versed in structure, tone, movement and a host of other fundamentals for those looking to hone their skills. But much more importantly, Michael recognizes the power of story to heal and to build connections.
'This is an amazing workshop. You’ll dig deeper than you thought was possible, you’ll laugh, you *may* cry, and the best part: you’ll craft a story you didn’t know was possible.' 'Michael takes early ideas and gently, keenly guides them into something deeper and more profound.' 'The emotional connections I make can be so deep it's almost scary. I love it!' 'I recommend your class to everyone wanting to learn the craft of storytelling because you create a rich sacred place where the community of students enrich and inspire one another. I experienced more growth as a storyteller because you are an inspiring, encouraging, authentic human that doesn't underestimate what it takes to dig deep and share our stories. With grace and tenderness, you gently lead students to the wisdom of their own story.' |
