All too often, not-for-profit and social benefit organizations get left in the dust when it comes to the effective adoption of new technology. Generative AI applications like ChatGPT and Claude can be truly transformational for capacity strapped teams. . .but only if we understand how they work so we can utilize them most effectively.
This course will make it accessible, teaching you how to work with AI to save time, freeing up space to focus on relationship, mission, and impact.
What you’ll learn
This self-paced class, developed over the course of several live sessions held in 2023, provides a comprehensive introduction to working with language-focused generative AI for not-for-profit organizations.
Demystify AI by exploring how it works and unpacking the ethical challenges that this emergent technology presents for organizations and leaders dedicated to supporting change.
Examine Use Cases in which AI can enhance our work in the not-for-profit and impact sector. We'll look at scenarios including grant and article writing, marketing, data analysis, strategy development and more.
Build Best Practices for working effectively with AI tools. Just like any partner, the quality of our relationship with AI depends largely on the types of questions we ask and making sure that the tasks we assign to it match its strengths.
By the end of the class, you’ll have new tools, ideas to implement AI in your own work, and an expanded understanding of both the opportunities and challenges that AI represents for nonprofits.
Throughout the course, you’ll also have access to a Q&A form to ask any questions that come up as you make your way through. I commit to responding to questions within 24 hours.
(Please note that this course does not cover image generating AI like Midjourney. There are lots of reasons for this, but the biggest one is that, while they’re powerful tools, I haven’t found concrete, ethical uses for it in an organizational setting.)
